Nemo's Coronation
Based on movie Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland

Concept
This project is based on the movie Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland, which was an influential movie from my childhood. I remember watching old VHS tapes at my Oma's house, and this was one of them. The storyline, characters, props, and overall aesthetic had captured my interest for years. I believed it was only fitting to acknowledge and pay homage to a piece of media that has had a significant personal impact on me by recreating a scene in 3D.

Reference
The recreation of a pre-existing scene came with its challenges. I took many screencaps from the coronation portion of the film; however, the compositions of the shots were ultimately meant to keep the story moving forward and maintain the tension already established. The challenge I faced was ultimately needing to convey as much story as possible to my audience with just composition and lighting. Which meant I needed to create an original composition using the reference scene as my guide.

Lighting
The movie has many moving parts in the plot, so when creating the lighting, I had to determine what aspects were essential to convey to the audience. I knew from the start I wanted the shadows of the King and the audience, standing in front of Nemo, to be cast behind him; however, this resulted in Nemo becoming lost in the shadows. To address this, I created a smaller and closer lighting setup to bring him back into focus. After much trial and error in terms of composition, layout, and lighting, the final result is exactly what I had envisioned.
